Prague is one of the most charming cities in Europe. With its cobble stone streets, unique bridges and overall romantic feeling it's the perfect city to get some awesome Instagram shots! Without further ado, here are the most Instagrammable places in Prague!
1. Charles Bridge
The Charles Bridge is without a doubt the most iconic bridge in Prague. Believe me, it can get packed during daytime, making it difficult to get a nice picture (unless you are a Photoshop wonder). The only way to get a killer shot is either way to wake up really early in morning or to take your photo from another perspective.
2. Powder Tower
Completed in 1475, the Powder Tower, was actually built as one of the 13 gates of the fortified wall of the Old Town. Later on, in the 17th century, the tower was used to store gunpowder, giving its name to the building. Today it is still one of the most iconic buildings in Prague. You can take some really cool shots outside, or climb up the tower and take pictures of the city view! When I visited the Powder Tower, there was a guy blowing/making bubbles and I thought it might give my picture an extra touch. Here’s the result!
3. Lennon Wall
The Lennon wall is one of the most colourful places in Prague and a must-do if you’re looking for a picture to pop out in your Instagram feed! It is called the John Lennon Wall because it is filled with John Lennon-inspired graffiti and pieces of lyrics from Beatles songs.
4. Letna Park
Letna Park is a beautiful park located on the Letna Hill, offering some stunning views over the city and the Vltava river. If you want to take the famous ‘bridge shot', head over to the Hanavský Pavilion.
5. Vlatava beach near the Santa Maria Boat wharf
This is hands down my favourite place in Praque. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the Charles Bridge, the castle and the city itself. But it’s also the place to be if you want to photograph swans and other birds like ducks, seagulls and pigeons. How to get there? Walk down the pathway on the west side of Mánesův Most bridge to the river bank beside the Santa Maria Boars wharf.
6. Petrin Hill
Petrin Hill is one of the most beautiful parks in Prague. Once you’re all the way up you can enjoy the stunning panoramic view of the city. For those who don’t want to walk all the way up, there’s a Cable car. During the winter months, the cable car is closed so keep that in mind.
7. Petrin Lookout Tower
If you’re walking up the Petrin Hill, you can’t miss the Petrin lookout tower. It is only a few minutes’ walk away from Petrin Hill and by climbing the 299 stairs, you’ll reach the highest point of the city. If you don’t want to go all the way up, the tower is still a cool spot to take pictures.
8. Bohemian Switzerland National Park
If you’re up for day trip, Bohemian Switzerland National Park is the way to go. The park is located about an hour and half to the north from Prague and the ideal place if you want to avoid the big crowds from the city. As there is no direct route from Prague to Bohemian Switzerland, you first have to take the train to Děčín and then the bus to the National Park.
To get in Děčín, take the Eurocity Berliner, which runs every two hours from the main station (Hlavní nádraží) and will take you to there in about an hour and a half. Once you arrive take bus no. 434 and get off in the village of Hřensko. From there, it’s only a short walk to the beauty of Bohemian Switzerland.
Once you arrive, you can visit the beautiful Gorges of Kamince, Pravčická Brána, the castle Eagles Nest and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of this fairy tale forests. If If you're feeling a bit lazy and don’t want to plan too much, make sure to check out Northern hikes. They offer organized tours and have a great website with a lot of tips and cool places to visit in the National Park.
